75 280S W116 windows don’t work after repaint
Hello all, been awake since I been on here, so first off, Hello 🙃. Problem I’m having is that body shop painted car about 4 years ago, windows worked fine before cars was done, they took all four doors off to paint jambs. Since getting car back none of the windows work anymore from the switches. I removed two front door panels and I use a power probe to open and close them if I wanna drive car. There’s power to north fuses 15 and 16 . At the motors with no switches installed there is nothing, no power or ground. With two front switches installed there is two powers coming to both front window motors. On drives side front, if I activate switch in one direction both powers to that motor disappear, if I active in reverse position there is no change to powers. On passengers side front motor there is two powers regardless of which direction switch is pressed. Any idea what they could have done to affect all four door windows ?

If I am following correctly , the motors work . It sounds to me that you have a short somewhere in the wiring , or a ground is missing.
I would try Running a 12 v power and a ground from fuse panel direct to switch - that would rule out switch Then use the ground from the original wire set , still using direct 12 v and see if it is the ground Also check the fuse for 12 v going to and from the fuse |
Sounds like they mixed up a bunch of switch wires.
Find a elect diagram and make sure the sockets have wires in correctly. |
Thank you guys for those suggestions, I will check out all those things. There is power at fuse 15 and fuse 16 . One of those is for the windows, I forgot which one so I checked both of them. They both have battery voltage at both ends of the fuses
