buckskin seat covers
 

i found some seat covers for my w108 but there too expensive.
anyone know where to get them cheaper, I can put them on myself " i hope"any resources would be greatly appreciated.

OK,,, by 'buckskin' are you meaning literally deer skins ? With or without the hair ?:D

There is actually a process done to some cow hides which make them feel like deer... but at much less cost... and they are waterproof....I don't mean water resistant... I mean I used to put them under a stream of water when I was selling them... and it does not wet them...

Perhaps you want replacement vinyl?

There are replacements readily available in catalogs which correctly replace the original "MB Tex" seat vinyl. they are not cheap, but accurate and good.

I am in the process of replacing my seat springs with a passenger side "guts" and hopefully will post some pictures of this project.
It entails the same procedures required to replace the seat covers.

It's your wallet, not mine, but I would consider using MB-correct materials to redo your seats, particularly if you intend to keep the car for a long time. $1,100 is cheap in the context of the cost of replacing a leather interior for something like a Series-1 XJ6 ($1,100 x 3+).

On a related note, how good is the seat padding, frame, etc? Now is the time to repair/replace.

Remember, the original MB upholstery lasted 30 years. Not bad.

Can you tell us this 'site' you found for the "buckskin seat covers"? I think we are all curious as to what you found...

I think that $1100 is too much money to put into a seat cover for a W108, unless it is a coupe or convertible.

Mercedes will sell you an original seat-cover for your car for that much money, and it will be perfect!
