116 4/5 Speed stick shifts?
Bringing a posting from another forum to this side concerning the 116's. One poster mentioned the options and one of which was the automatic transmission being an option, while standard was a 4 speed stick with an optional 5 speed. Can anyone confirm this? If so, will start looking for a 5 speed box to convert my automatic. But have never seen one.

All U.S. spec w116 models were automatic trans only.

I have personally seen a 116/280S with a 5-speed for sale in the Washington Post. I have personally seen 123/280CE and a 123/300D with 5-speeds.
These were all grey-market cars. I have heard antecdotally that the 107, 114/115, 116, and 123 could be had with 5-speeds but not in the US because of the cost of emissions certification and dealer training for what was thought to be a very thin market. BTW - last week I bought one on e-Bay. The only one I have ever seen for sale. I plan to use it in my 250C.
