rear window seal and auto glass places
Hello,
I have to replace the rear window seal in the 108. What are your feelings on the chain auto glass places for having this done. It would be mighty convenient to have it installed while I am at work. TIA, Peter |

Find one that you KNOW has done this successfully, and that the guy that did it is still around! Otherwise, if they screw up and refuse to make good when they break the rear window, you are out the $150 for the gasket, the $150 they will charge, and a replacement rear window (expensive).
Talk to your local MB types and find out who they use, especially the independent mechanics, who rely on someone good. Beats the hassle of getting a botch job fixed. MAKE SURE THAT NO SEALANT IS USED EXCEPT MB SPECIAL SEALANT!!!!! Can't say that too loud, I've seen several that leaked worse than the old one due to the sealant preventing the window settling in properly -- takes a couple days for the gasket to work down proplerly. Peter
