6 vs. 8

I seem to remember averaging around 17 mpg with the 6, and I seem to get more like 14 mpg average with the 4.5 v8.

no dout, a benz even if its 30 years old is still a wonderful thing to behold. My 250c loves to be driven on the freeway at speeds that make rice bunners look in disbelief. For some time I have been colleting new crome parts , seals , ect for when cosmetics could get done.
But to tell the truth the paint is still pretty good after alll these years.Just dosent hold a shine that long.Another thing is Ive owned the care a good 10 years now and the cost of ownership
and maitenence is on par with the toyota we had.

But a word of warning once you own a benz there is no going back!

I think i like the SE more than the SEL since the SE is less spacious.
Is there anything that can be done to tighten up the steering feel or is this the norm given the vintage.

Steering response

scargo, the steering response should show little or no play. If that's not the case, then start checking from ball joints through linkages to steering box; somewhere there's work to be done.

Hello,
Please do ask the seller if he/she/they have been greasing the 26 (or is it 22?!) grease points on the W108 chassis. If the seller asks *What?*, then budget for a full front end and driveshaft universal rebuilds.
The M130 six is a tough engine, but check for camshaft lobe wear and signs of headgasket oil leaks. Distributor could be worn out as well, causing all kinds of running problems.
Just my 2 cents.
Have a good week.

Grease Points

Just how many grease points are there on the w108 chassis cars. I am about to purchase one and I was wandering.
