what is the rim offset on W109 cars?

did any of you guys put different rims/tires on these cars?
Like something a little wider with a little decrease in profile, like maybe 225/60/15?
Thanks

For something that looks original, your choices are 15 inch Mercedes steel wheels. They were I think usually fitted to the Merceds 600. You would have to search for larger hubcaps which can be found if you're persistant. Also if you are lucky you can come accross 15inch bundt style wheels. This is the aluminium wheel that was very popular in 14 inch size on Benzes through out 70s and 80s but 99% of them that you see on the street or on ebay for sale are in 14 inch size. The 15 inch wheels are aftermarket and were made by either ATS or Ronal and are very scarce. I just lost a bid on those wheels on ebay when the seller sold them to his friend and ended the auction early because he did not want to bother with shipping. Man was I disappointed!!! They went for $35 each which is dirt dirt cheap. If restored those wheels should be expensive. Gerry has a nice set for sale

15 inch wheels and tyres improve handling tremendously on those cars. It is a worthwile upgrade. Unless you are worried about originality.

Also if you ever wondered how modern wheels look on classic cars like yours then check out my site. This site is banned by Mercedes Originality Police so keep it quiet

The 14" BundtCake alloy wheels came in two different width.... one 6" and another (less common) 6 1/2".

oouuuchhh.......horror !!!!!
I don't think I want to put anything like that on my car...

Thanks for the links guys, you are great help!

Did anybody think about using modern 16" steel rims that came as spare rims on some benz models? The only problem would be fitting the original hubcaps.. hmmm...

Really? I just clicked on the link from your post and it took me right there.

If it does not work from the post copy the address and paste in the address bar.

I like that black gangsta 108 alot. Looks good without the side chrome strip. I would pick different wheels but it looks great in all black. I noticed though that the rear chrome strip is still there. Is this pic photoshopped or is it real?
