I did a quick search for DTB's, Recall Campaigns, and Service Campaigns regarding brake lines and fuel lines. I didn't find anything, and I'm not personally aware of any issues related to your situation. If your ML was in my shop, the first thing I would do, would be to research the repair history. Maybe the lines were inadvertantly disturbed during a previous repair? I'd also find another ML to compare with yours. Sometimes this can be helpful when trying to figure out what may have caused the problem. Either way, I doubt it came from the factory that way. Do some digging and I think you'll find out what happened. Keep us posted.
