I was stuck in a waiting room years back and while reading a Field & Stream,
saw a story about Amazon natives who had developed a method for curing poisonous snakebites.
They would recreate your mishap with the coil, applied to the area of the bite.
The magazine was very impressed with the 'cure',
although I've never heard anything about it since then.
