My understanding was that the K1 spring upgrade was intentionally put out by MB to solve the 2-3 fare they commonly saw in the 722.xxx transmissions. Having replaced a couple of them, I can tell you that there is a very noticeable difference. Whether they changed the spec, or the materials, who knows, but the new K1 spring kit is much much stiffer...
