That is where the extremely rare trip computer is.
On non optioned (ie normal) the tacho and clock are on the right, with the fuel, oil pressure, temp and 'economy' gauge on the left.
On the rare option the 'ecomomy gauge gets replaced by the fuel gauge and the tacho moves to where the fuel gauge is. the whole right side becomes the trip computer which has a digital clock in it.
Whoever ordered that car seems like they put all the bells and whistles on it.
