I had two thoughts after reading this thread:

First, from now on we will need to be very careful buying used diesels. Due to the high cost of fuel, who knows what kind of junk people are trying to burn in these things. You will not know if a used car will need an IP and/or injectors.

Second, I hope that the folks who advocate using their engine as a waste disposal unit will not complain about future emissions restrictions on diesels. This is just the kind of behavior that will be used to justify additional restrictions.
