I have a 1998 W210 E320 with an M104 engine (114000 miles). I purchased an Actron CP9135 Scanner that works really well and helped me diagnose a recent ignition coil failure! I was very pleased with it's accuracy and user friendliness.

Now, I suddenly have the ETS and ABS lights coming on almost eveytime that I use the vehicle. I find that when I make turns, that is when these lights come on. I have searched the archives and saw many possibilities (brake light switch, battery voltage, wheel speed sensors, steering wheel tilt sensor,etc.)....Mostly, I noticed that the archives state it is best to get the codes read as to narrow down the cause of the ETS/ABS light activations.....When I use my Actron Scanner, it comes back with "no Faults Detected".....I do understand that this scanner is only looking for DTCs......I have several questions that I could use some help with!

(1) Do I need to purchase a different type of scanner to retrieve the ETS/ABS codes?

(2) Should I use my scanner to reset the IM Readiness functions?

(3) I currently have one brake light that is inoperable due to, what looks like arcing at the surface where the bulb holder apparently makes ground. Could this condition be causing the ETS/ABS lights to activate?

(4) I have recently replaced the stop light switch. Prior to installing the new switch, I tested both contacts with an ohm meter to insure that there were not any (deadband) spots at any point of the plunger's travel. Should I replace the switch again?

OFF TOPIC: I sure miss the days of Mercedes Benz (Trigger Points, Oil Bath Air Filters, and Transmission fluid filled piston carbs)....Life seemed a WHOLE LOT simpler then!......Thanks in advance, guys
