OK, that wasn't useful, I know. As previous posters have illuminated, there just isn't much to choose from. 'Muricans won't buy a diesel, and SUV drivers simply don't care about economy (as long as their credit cards still work...). Just occurred to me - the huge Ford is available in diesel - what's that one called? I should know, there's enough of them running around Dallas; all with only the driver aboard.

How is that an SUV? That is a station wagon and totally different, IIRC.
Economy is wonderful. However, it would cost me more in insurance and maintenance if I were to get a 2nd car for skirting around, diesel truck to pull my loads and something to transport bulky loads. Yes,quite often I am alone in my SUV but until you are willing to write me a check to cover the difference, I cannot afford all 3 vehicles.
