In mine you reset it by turning the wheel all the way to the left hold it for 5 seconds and all the way to the right hold it for 5 seconds, the roll bar; hold the switch all the way up or down in relation to the roll bar position for a few seconds to re-syncronize. Mine is a 99 SL, not sure it will work for yours but it's worth the try.
