the 240 rear end is a good idea but it will be tricky. there are links near the outer edges of the body near the rocker that will be considerably past the frame line on the old truck. an independent rear will make the truck ride a lot nicer. there are other rear end assemblies that might be easier to transplant like a jag unit which comes in a complete unit that can be unbolted and attached to your frame, as i remember.
