Sometimes the 617 requires a massive grip to release the cap. One of those quirks. I've got giant hands that can easily palm a basketball with very strong fingers and, on occasion, it takes every last bit of grip to release the cap.

Jut put a pair of pliers on it.......protect the plastic if possible........and turn the cap counter-clockwise.
