Death of a 300D ??

Well last year I started getting some noticeable blow by. Last night it took a giant leap forward. Apparently the blowby is so bad that it blew the breather tube off (tube that connects to the intake). Nice amount of oil everwhere.

I put it back on... checked the oil filler cap while running. The sucker nearly flew off from the pressure.

Besides looking for sympathy (last summer the car survived a tree falling on it) I have a strange symptom. The car will not shut off when the ignition is turned off. This appears to be a major vacuum leak, but my windows etc still work fine. I'm wondering, last ditch hope that this is a symptom not of blowby but of something else. I don't see how pressure under the valve cover would cause the IP to keep feeding fuel??? Something else appears to be going on and I'm hoping it's masking itself as blowby.

PS: What's your opinion should I rebuild the engine if it's blowby despite other problems the car might have or get another and part this one out?
