Injection pump differences

I'm rebuilding a 240D engine from the parts of a '74 240D and a '69 220D. Most parts seem identical, though obviously there are exceptions.
My question involves the injection pumps: I have two of them, and they appear exactly the same. One of them (the one from the 220) is in better shape than the other. The one from the 240 is missing the identification plate.
I would like to use the better pump, but logic tells me that the 220 pump, being intended for a slightly smaller engine, would have a slightly lower fuel delivery rate throughout its range.
Does anyone know if this is the case? Are the pumps actually identical, or must I use the worn out 240 pump to get the proper fuel rate?
Thanks for any help.
