My 82 has throttle body injection. Don't know if the type of fuel system makes a difference or not. Before trying it, checked the products available at the local Schucks Auto supply house, and it looks to me like the major ingredient in most gasoline additives is acetone, as much as 60 percent in many cases.

It makes a difference from the standpoint that you have 1 or maybe 2 injectors to replace if it screws it up. On a V8 with 8 injectors, it can get costly. It might be the ingredient in gas additives but most of them might screw with the O2 sensors and what not. I wouldn't try it on a V8 with possibly 4 sensors in the pipes. Besides, most of the additives I have tried seem to be snake oil.
