I can't find the torque spec anywhere but it sounds like you are in the ball park. The sequence, I would think, should be in a circular pattern starting from the middle and working out. I WOULD NOT go above the recommended spec on an alloy engine. I always hold my breath as it is when tighening anything down on these.

It has been my experience (for what that is worth) that once the gasket starts to leak, there usually is no saving it.

The vacuume leak could be the problem with your timing advance.

For some reason the CD is about worthless on the intake.
