i disagree,
these old benzes are easy to work on and cheaper to work on than a honda or volkswagen.... I have an 1983 300sd and i need a transmission... i have found about 3 ranging in price form 150 to 500 dollars... now try that with a honda or volkswagen... Now the benze has a lot more space and I can get my hands down in it compared to a honda....

The two jobs you have described are easy and if the engine and tranny are good and the body is not rusted out and if your getting a good deal on it then go for it... we will support you... and you will be fine...
