Here is a tid bit of info for you.
The 92-97 wheels/airbags were all interchangable, the 98-99 wheels/airbags were not. Assuming you had a 98 wheel and a 98 airbag (for example) you could use this combo on your 16 valve. Another example, a 92 wheel and a 97 airbag, interchangable, a 92 wheel and a 98 airbag, not interchangable.
Does that make sense?
As for the 16 valve, I have head two different stories, from different owners, some stating that the 92-98 wheels did not fit the splines of the 16 valve steering shaft, and others stating that the wheels fit and the airbags connect up to the OE connector (no SRS light)
I installed a 99 CLK55 wheel on my 190e 2.6 and a 92 S-Class wood wheel on my 93 500e using a 95 W202 airbag.
