A friend of mine was a consultant for DaimlerChrysler in Stuttgart several years ago. He said the whole Chrysler ruining Mercedes thing is a myth. Mercedes did it to themselves. His experience with management was that the Germans absolutely do not let an American tell them what to do.

Anyway, those were his thoughts and he had first hand insight into the company.
