The AMG Hammer originally came out as a W124 derivative MB during the mid to late eighties. The engine was massaged by AMG while the body work and suspension got the AMG treatment as well.

The E500/500Es were produced (in conjunction with Porsche) and sold by the factory. These came out in the early 90s (91-95 in Europe, 92-94 in the US).

They aren't the same cars.

AMG though, being a tuner, created some W126 coupes and sedans with the Hammer treatment. AMG also did one offs for those who cared for (and could afford) them. With enough money, AMG would create (almost) anything for ya...
