Every culture has a different perspective on alcoholism.

I know many in this country who believe that you are an alcoholic if you drink everyday.

The Japanese drink more than any other people I have ever seen. My co-workers got falling down drunk every night. And I mean every single night.

And they showed up for work early the next morning, no worse for the wear. It is something that I could never understand how they were able to manage it.

Simply put, the Japanese believe that even if you pass out drunk every night, if you are able to hold a steady job and support your family, then it is perfectly acceptable.
