my dad used to say 90% of the business in this country is done on a handshake or verbal agreement.
at the time i was a fledgling businessman. i thought he was crazy.
now i fiind it true for me.
i actually do a huge amount of work paying folks by the hour with no fixed contract. i only do this with folks i know well and feel i will continue to do work with in the future.
on the other hand i have also had folks that i had a very detailed precise 20 page contract with who managed to scr#w me, so what counts the most is good faith. no matter how great the contract is, if not agreed to in good faith is worthless.
i have often called places up and placed orders for building materials, sometimes in the thousands of $, and had it shipped on credit to be billed. i guess they can tell i am good for it over the phone. i dont know how, but...
i do love this country too.
