The end of my metal tab was like a potato chip and broke off..then the rectangular bump on the bottom of the pedal is an actual fastener...( you pinch the two metal tabs togather on the back and pull it out from the front to get the tab out, and the rusty part removed...What I opted to do is take a piece of metal (I used a hinge exactly the width of the channel at the bottom of the pedal..cut off the loops on the hinge...drilled the hole in the hinge out to match the orig.slot on the metal..bend just like the original..then reinsert the rubber tab ...then put it back in the car. I just drove it and it works great ! Hope this helps as this topic was nowhere in search and I know there must be more rusty accelerator tabs out there guys !..I LOVE MB Forum !
