I initially thought they were for the brakes. I'm sure they're not the air intake as I've replaced my air box with the one from Renntech and the intake ends behind the headlamps. My car is a Canadian spec car so we should have the same set up. Guido says those are for the engine mounts. I'll double check just to be sure.
The reason why the original primer was removed is that the shop painting it has had problems with the original primer before. He claims that it's just rustproofing and the paint doesn't stick as well. And that's the only way he'll guarantee the paint for as long as I have the car and that's in writing. He's also the best there is. All the car dealers go to him to have their cars detailed for product launches and his paint jobs invariably win the car shows around here. So I guess I'm protected either way.
Regarding the lights, I just "made my own." I got regular W124 Euros, am in the process of replacing the lenses and had the reflectors chromed. Saved me $500 too. Sourcing the real Euro E500 lamps is just taking too long. I've been at it for the past 3-4 months and all the leads have so far been duds. The closest I've gotten are dealers from the UK quoting me $600 for the pair but they are "currently out of stock and we need your order and a 50% deposit but we cannot guarantee when they will be available"
