This is a very expensive way to go and only worth it if the car is pristine, or a collector car, etc. There are many, many rusted out MB's with fairly low mileage engines that can be bought cheap. Often you can get a complete running parts car for less than the cost of new pistons. Used engines turn up here in the classifieds periodically too. If you really want to "prepare" for the inevitable why not wait for a good deal, purchase a nice used engine, pickle it and squirrel it away? Just my 2 cents. RT
