I make fries and chips all the time at home, but putting them on a sandwich is like having rice topped with mashed potatoes (to me). In Pittsburg they put fries on your hamburger at some places and I can take that or leave it. My favorite fries or chips are sweet potato served with sour cream and hungarian paprika.
