I'm looking forward to watching the Ohio State vs. Michigan and UC Berkeley (I refuse to call them Cal) vs. USC (I refuse to call the Southern Cal, which they hate).
I've debating on whether to mow the lawn today or to lay around the house like a wet noodle. I've been fighting a cold for the past three weeks, and have had the worst cough in my entire existence.
As an aside, why does the national media call UC Berkeley "Cal" and USC "Southern Cal" ? We here in Califoria use neither name, and if you say "Cal" or "Southern Cal" no one is likely to know which university you are referring to.
All public universities in California have "Cal" or "California" in their name. If you refer to a university called "Cal" nobody will have any idea which California state university you are referring to, with the exception of college football fans. For example, you have the UC college system: University of California at: Los Angeles (UCLA), San Diego (UCSD), Berkeley (UC Berkeley), Davis (UC Davis), etc.
You also have the Cal State system: Cal State Fullerton, Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach, etc.
Regarding USC, we all refer to USC as SC or USC. Nobody refers to them as Southern Cal. They also ask the broadcasters not to call them Southern Cal, yet the name persists.
Just two of my pet peeves....
