Those thin wires going from top to bottom inside the sender are the resistance wires. First, I don't think anybody mentioned that the sender must be taken apart-carefully. I remember a small nut on one end to remove the outer alum. tube. The low fuel light lights when the float reaches its bottom travel & makes contact with a brass contact. Clean all the crud with something strong, but friendly to plastic & you should be good to go. Make sure the float is sliding on the wires correctly before you reinstall. Paul.
