Well thats true
So true. I burst out in laughter at some strange things and at the most inopportune time. I love it when a post-it goes up and the hackles rise.
One mishap, my grandmothers' funeral, and her last wish to have her grandsons pallbear her from church to grave. We looked like a bunch monkeys playing with a football. Hell they had to tell us how to handle that damn heavy thing..granny weighed about 320lbs.
They have her funeral at an old church in Alarka, NC. This church must have been built in the early 1900's since the steps leading up to the church were approx 55 degree angle.
On the way up the steps,I'm leading the pack with my ogre cousin and the rest are behind. But being as dumb as we were...we had placed the weakest and youngest cousins in the rear at the feet of the casket not thinking that upon leaving the service...my cousins would take up their same positions as they entered the church but now that means that they would lead on the way out, and with the help of gravity, feel A TON OF WEIGHT . You could just smell that something was going to go wrong.
Just as cousin "Newt" begans to traverse the steps it was apparent that he was slowly and deliberately feeling his way down these 20 steps by feeling each step before committing his weight to the step. Midway down he gets confident and misses a step, loses his balance, falls, releases the box....all in one fell swoop. We managed to slide the box down the rest of the steps.
I once asked Newt if he was more concerned with dropping the box or falling? To which he replied "Neither, I was worried granny would fall outta the box and we wouldnt be able to get her back in.............
Have a Happy New Year
