Is it possible you replied to an official looking email from Ebay at sometime in the recent past that required you to submit your username and password. To hijack an account the dirtbags have to either figure out or trick you out of your password.
It is difficult to tell the phony "Phishing" emails from a real one until you look at the address that the links within the emails go to.
Any official Ebay email can also be found copied to the "My Messages" section of "My Ebay"
