The IP sucks in more fuel then it needs, hence the return lines. If you didn't bypass the return line when using DP and instead let it flow naturally back to the tank, you'd burn through 2 cans of DP in a matter of minutes vs. actually running your engine on straight DP for TWO FULL CANS.

If you let the DP dilute into your tank, most of the advantages to running it are lost. It'd be pointless.

Do it once and you'll see how much fuel is returned, unused into the temp. tank.
