I am going to be doing some of the same tomorrow too, trim back bougenvillea damaged by the So. Cal. frost. They were beautiful but the frost killed htem off. I am not looking forward to getting stabbed by all the thorns.
On my way to work I drive through some back, rural roads. Avocado trees suffered some real heavy damage. they have all been trimmed back to stumps. The remaining stumps have been covered with some white powder.
Bot, do you know what that may be?
The price of guacamole is goign to be wayyyyyyyyyyyy high over the next couple of years.
