Here's an electrical diagram for the starter switch. I hope the JPG doesn't get buggered up.
I realize that the proper response would be to look at the neutral safety switch, but that takes time and if this is a daily driver, then.....
I have done this before on a 80 300D. It was a daily driver and I shorted the switch out until I had time to fix it. Just for fun I put it in drive and started it, no problem.
I'll try and locate the area where the violet and violet/white wires are on another diagram.
