After the valve adjustment, I have developed several fuel leaks around the injectors. I have ordered some new hoses, so I will replace them and see if that stops the leak. If not, one of the injectors looks as if it is leaking where the two halves screw together.

I'd consider pulling the injectors and having them tested anyway. Bosch service centers usually do it for 2 or 3 bucks per. Cold smoke is common. Do you get smoke after car sits a short time, say one hour? If so, you may want to replace valve seals--easy job. The diesel leak is unfortunate. Doesn't it always seem that once you fix one thing, another totally unrelated thing breaks? The rise in compression may not give you a noticable difference in torque or HP, but you can bet your motor is thankful. Valves that are tight and don't seat properly build up carbon and unburned fuel gunk. I had two out of five holes at 120 lbs. or lower, mostly due to valves. But what's funny is the car still ran well. 0-60 was acceptable. But lots of fuel smoke and a good bit of blue smoke due to guides that were real sloppy.
