I have read the DIY articles and threads on how important the vacuum system and valves are to smooth shifting. My 1983 240D does not shift back to 1st gear when coming to a stop. It will shift to 1st when manually using the shift lever and upshifts smoothly through 2nd and 3rd. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to fix the problem? Thanks to all you experts for your much appreciated help!!!
