Does a 1980 IH Scout count? It has the same turbo with a larger exhaust housing. Came with either a Chrysler 727 or T-19 4 speed. I have the T-19 and would never want the 727. I want all of the available power at the wheels instead of creating waste heat. I think that the SD-33T has more low end torque than the 617 I'll post the torque curve when I can find it.
If you can accelerate with a 2.4l with 67Hp and not wear out a clutch too soon then why would a 125 Hp engine be worse? Though i've never driven an NA 617, I would think that they are very similar in their low end response.
