The house is on a hillside but the tar driveway compensates for most of the slope. Driving in forward the front end slopes downward maybe 10 degrees and also sideways slopes downward toward driver's side about 10 degrees. I'm estimating slope; no actual measurements but I might shop around to see if some laser levels measure slope. (Just want a new toy). Anyway, there is enough of a slope that the car will roll slowly forward in neutral. I want to replace the rear half axles. I've read the axle change threads and I feel it is DIY. It would be my first time jacking up a car for other than changing a flat. I wouldn't mind buying some landscape ties which I could use later in the garden and 4x4 or 6x6 posts as I could make use of them to repair my fence after they see service supporting the car. But would like to know if that makes any sense and if so just where would I position them under the car. I still need to look around for a floor jack and jack stands and chocks so any suggestions along those lines would be appreciated. I know I would get a lot of satisfaction if I do this job myself, but if I find a garage that would put in my CVJ axles for 4 hours labor I would probably do that so I could get some satisfaction repairing my house roof instead!
