It was not the judge. In California judges do not control the jails. The Sheriff, in this case Lee Baca, controls the county's jails.

Two reasons why Baca let her out early:

1. To serve his celebrity masters; and

2. Next year, come budget time, he can go crying to the Board of Supervisors, asking for more taxpayer money for his department and claiming that "...if only he had had more moneyt..." Paris would not have been released early.

It is disgusting.
