Hello Everyone

If there are no diesel stations around but I have a few quarts of motor oil in the trunk would that work in an emergency?

Yes, your car will run on most motor oils.

If near a store would some cooking oil like corn, sunflower or other work?

Yes your car will run on most all vegetable oils.

I have about 10 quarts of unopened regular motor oil about 10 years old. Would it make any sense to put some in the trunk for an emergency or just bring to recycling?

If the oil has not gone bad for any reason, it can be used for fuel.

Your car can also run on most hydraulic fluids, and even on most flammable gasses like propane, or map gas, if it is metered into the air intake with an adequate amount of air.

I have ran diesel engines on all of these fuels, and I know from first hand experience they do work.

The only fuel I have used long term that I have mentioned here is vegetable oils. And I can honestly say I have had no problems running it.
The other fuels I have only used for short periods to see if they would work, or for testing.

Thank You
