I am not sure what an architectural engineer is, but I would think that your friend will want to be able to discuss the differences between architects, engineers, and architectural engineers.

I worked with several architects many years ago when I was an engineer. My most lasting impression from that time is how difficult the profession of architecture is. An architect needs to be able to take a list of requirements and turn them into a design that works, can be constructed and maintained, and is pleasing to the eye, all within a budget. It is a rare combination of skills.
