All three of my diesels are male.
Some obvious reasons as to why:
1. the block heater cords which are "male" protrude from the bottom of the front apron.
2. they aren't afraid of a little flatulence now and then.
3. they have gruff sounding idles with baritone voices at higher rpms.
My 300SE and E420 were definitely female.
