Hmm, now I never thought of cats and dogs as "always" male or female, horses? yes, dogs and cats? nope, I usually call dogs "she" because my family always raised Samoyed's and the girls are more lucrative... but it's just a reflex. with horses I always feel they are feminine. cars too. unless it's just a obvious male car... 57 chevy, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Corvette, etc. other cars have personalities, and I get a feel for weather or not they are male or female. most vans I classify as female. not sure why though. with sedans, it's dependent on their personality. I have a parts car that is certainly male, two drivers that are female, and a suburban that is male... a horse to be sure, but still male.
