Have you read Blink? As far as telepathy or similar phenomena are concerned, it seems that much of what we may know intuitively is a matter of subconscious information-gathering which then informs our conscious decision-making.

I suspect that this is how people seem to be able to "read" the thoughts of others. People who are very close to each other emotionally do this.

As far as prayers to supernatural beings, who can say? I guess one either believes or not. I know people who seem to have every reason to NOT believe in God, and yet they do. Others with whom I am well-aquainted reject the whole concept of a personal God, and yet they seem to have every reason TO believe.
