Does it flash or more like dim and brighten. I noticed this on my w124 wagon last night and it was the seat belt warning light flashing that caused the condition. The seat belt warning light is integrated into the dome light fixture and when the seat belt light flashes, the dome light dims and brightens. At least this is the case with mine.
