Do a search on this, there are lots of threads on removing the tumbler and, if necessary, the entire lock assembly. Use keywords 'ignition tumbler'.
I just succeeded doing this last week. Mine's a 1985 380SE, the W126, but if you have the same ignition as mine, forget the paperclip and go to the hardware store or auto supply place and get an allen wrench set with a .050" allen key on it. It's made of hardened steel and worked on mine like a charm.
Unfortunately, though, the key has to be in the #1 position to allow the insertion tool to work to release the black metal collar holding in the tumbler, so this isn't any help if your key won't turn.
Find the thread on removing the lock assembly when the key can't be turned.
