ECE = the best one, no catalytic

RUF = good , but less hp, and catalytic converter ready

KAT = obviously, has the Kat

At least this is how I understand it.

All of those were factory variations.

AMG was an aftermarket tuner, but the very best one, for Mercedes in the 80s. They built up three different versions of the 560 engine, and the top one was the DOHC 32 valve. About 375 hp in Euro trim.

I do not know the 500 variations, but they built a LOT of units, and raced one of them in SPA in 1989 (2 racers actually) = 1989 500SEC AMG euro.
One of them is in a museum in Germany today. I have seen pictures of it, and there is a little model of it you can get. I might get one some time, they are highly detailed, and I have one of a stock 560SEC they make. You get them from model stores in Germany that sell them on ebay Germany

AMG parts for these in incredible, sky high cost, and lots of fakes, but the real ones are worth their weight in gold.

"AMG" parts and cars are so valuable, that the name is put on regular ones and regular stuff just to falsely inflate the prices.

Benzworld hates fake AMG anything, and will call out any fraud they detect.

I am sure NurSpec, Jonathan, and Talbir would know if you get their attntion

Be a little careful on Benzworld, some of those boyz are pretty young and crazy and the some of the older ones are nasty and should know better

Have thin skin and ffs don't play up too much that you are a female over there!

The W126 specific knowlege is intense there, however. And it is world wide too, so lots of Euro information there, from people who have them, in Czecho, England, Germany, Australia, Canada, Estonia, etc.
